I met Kezia in the fall through a mutual friend of ours in Raleigh . A back story on Kezia: A lifelong North Carolinian, Kezia was moving to Washington to wed her fiance Jermaine and build a live life on the West Coast. Like my husband Peter, Jermaine is in the US Navy and works on a submarine. He is also stationed at the same base.
I was so thankful that life brought Kezia to Washington! How special to meet a friend from the same town, and, even better, a wonderful woman with a huge heart. We southern girls gotta stick together!
Over the holidays, Kezia reached out and asked if I could attend /photograph her courthouse elopement in January. I was immediately honored; I am not a photographer but I do have a love for taking photographs. I thought carefully before saying yes (this was the moment she and Jermaine would become man & wife!!), ultimately deciding to help after the comforting news that she was planning a wedding celebration in the spring (with a professional photographer).
I felt so honored to be present on that January evening. Kezia and Jermaine are the real deal and the love they share is evident in every exchange. After their short and sweet civil ceremony, we walked down to the water for a few photographs at sunset. The cool, winter air and the snow-capped mountains in the distance were absolutely magical. It was a beautiful beginning for what is sure to be a beautiful life together. Congrats, friends!
