local adventures // west seattle

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that it has taken us a year of living in the PNW to make it over to West Seattle and Alki Beach. But hey, any travel with a bebe is deserving of an award, so I am impressed we even made it over today! Seattle was unusually warm today. It was 72 degrees in the sunshine, and in Seattle that tends to feel more like 82! What's cool about visiting this area is that it is accessible from downtown via water taxi. If you don't mind a little walking (or biking), this is definitely the way to go!

After a short water taxi ride, we arrived and instantly I felt like we were on vacation. I strolled along the Alki Beach trail and enjoyed the skyline and Olympic mountain views, while inhaling the sea air.

Alki is kind of like Seattle's Venice Beach and the people watching is great! I loved watching the joggers and roller bladers, as well as the families picnicking and people enjoying cold drinks at beach bars and restaurants.

Being solo with a baby, we only stopped for Henry to feel the sand between his toes (and for mommy to get an iced green tea latte), but it was still well worth the trek!
