Hello apple season! With crisp sunny days in the sixties and seventies, it was a stunning week to welcome fall. Today was our first fall adventure with a visit to Saratoga Apple. This lovely orchard is only twenty minutes from our home and the drive out there is as much of a treat as the destination itself.
When we arrived at the orchard, we purchased our U-Pick bags and got to work! All the apples were so ripe and the varieties were endless. Henry didn't understand that he wasn't supposed to take a bite of each apple he picked, but what he lacked in ethical practice he made up for in enthusiasm. As "apple taster extraordinaire," Henry charmed the orchard with his wide-eyed smiles, appreciative slurps and happy feet.
After sufficiently exhausting ourselves with a tour of the property, we made our way over to the on-site market which sells a variety of produce and specialty goodies such as pumpkins, apple butter, coffee, gourmet cider and apple cider doughnuts. We purchased three apple cider doughnuts and sat on the porch, enjoying the fresh air and mountain views in the distance.
We will definitely return another weekend this fall when the weather is cool and the leaves really begin to change. Next time I plan to sip coffee with my doughnut and take Henry on a tractor ride!
